Because you want to be a living legend and don’t want to be rich and famous after you’re dead.
It’s time to focus on building a brand legacy that will stand the test of time.
1. Just like you don’t expect sex on the first date, don’t expect a sale on the first touch.
The first time a new prospect finds your website or meets you in person, give them ooodles of value for free … Let them get warmed up with easy + actionable tasks that prove to them they can do this! And they will trust you and believe in your methods. Then they will click the big red button and BUY.
One big trend that is bugging the living hell outta me are all of these archetypal brand quizzes. They are generic, which is to be expected. But still they are kind of fun.
If you decide to create one for your biz DO NOT give them the results of the quiz and go directly into “buy my stuff.” Bad form my lovelies.
Rather, give the quiz-taker a free goody that will help them express their so-called archetype in the world by having them take one or two very small and easy actions to improve their brand.
2. Tell everyone WHY you are doing what you do.
As Simon Sinek so deftly points out in his TedTalk, Martin Luther King said, “I have a dream.” NOT “I have a 10 point plan.”
For that annoying proverbial question, “what do you do?” start with “I believe…” or “My dream is…” and then you’ll immediately grab their interest so they will normally say, “Tell me more” or “Tell me how.” You can always follow that up with who your SDC (supernaturally designed client) is and how you help them fulfill that dream.
‘Nuff said.
3. Ask questions.
We often give people what we want them to have rather than what they truly want or need. This holds true for both life and biz.
If you don’t know your audience members’ dreams and nightmares you can’t help them achieve their intentions, right?
What would be a miracle for you right now?
What dreams make you feel alive and tingly all over?
What keeps you awake at night?
What flavor of suffering have you come to earth to alleviate?
All of these questions will ultimately point to their values and beliefs which will help you pinpoint their dreams.
